Cairo (Agenzia Fides) – The doctrinal department of the Copt Orthodox Bishops’ Commission responsible for pastoral care has issued a warning to the faithful concerning the activity of Jehovha Witnesses in Egypt. In an official statement taken up by the local media, the doctrinal department of the Copt Orthodox Church explains that Jehovah Witnesses belong to a sect started in the United States in the early 1900 , whose members do not recognize the divinity of Jesus Christ. The same doctrinal department warned in particular about articles and messages published on a website in Arabic with the title “Orthodoxy and Bible”, explaining that behind the activity of this online website are Jehovah Witnesses whose intention is to confuse the hearts of Christians and to draw them away from the Faith carefully guarded and proposed by the Copt Orthodox Church.
In the meantime Copt Orthodox Patriarch Tawadros II, visiting Kuwait, said that terrorist attacks on Copts aim to sabotage national unity among the components of Egypt’s population , recalling that the violence of terror networks attacks not only Christians but also members of the armed forces, the police and ordinary citizens, followers of Islam. Pope Tawadros expressed his confidence in the capacity of Egyptians to resist the plans of terrorists, recalling that in Egypt co-existence between Christians and Muslims has existed for 14 centuries.
