AFRICA/CAMEROON – Bishop of Yokadouma resigns, successor appointed

Città del Vaticano (Agenzia Fides) – The Holy Father Francis, on 25 April 2017, accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the diocese of Yokadouma (Cameroon), presented by Bishop Eugeniusz Juretzko, O.M.I. The Pope has appointed as Bishop of Yokadouma Rev. Paul Lontsié-Keuné, of the clergy of Bafoussam, presently Rector of the Saint Augustin of Maroua-Mokolo Major Inter-diocesan Seminary .
Rev. Paul Lontsié-Keuné was born on 25 August 1963 at Balatchi, diocese of Bafoussam. He studied Philosophy and Theology in Cameroon, at the Major inter-diocesan Seminaries in Douala and in Yaoundé. He was awarded a License in Sacramentary Liturgy in France, at the Institut Catholique de Paris. He was ordained a priest on 17 March 1991 for the diocese of Bafoussam.
Since his ordination he has served as follows: 1991-1994: Specialisation Studies in Paris; 1995-1998: assistant parish priest at Bangangté and director of the Collège Saint Jean Baptiste; 1998-2008: diocesan Secretary for Catholic Education; diocesan master of ceremonies, docent at the Inter-diocesan seminary of Maroua; assistant priest and then parish priest in the parishes of Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs in Bangangte and Saint Paul in Bafoussam; since 2008: Rector of the Saint Augustin of Maroua-Mokolo Major Inter-diocesan Seminary .
