Aleppo (Agenzia Fides) - "One thing that baffles, in the face of the US military attack on Syrian territory, is the speed with which it was decided and carried out, without any adequate investigation into the tragic massacre with chemical weapons which took place in Idlib province". This is what Syrian Bishop Georges Abou Khazen OFM, Vicar of Aleppo for Catholics of Latin rite says commenting on the US missile attack against the Syrian base near Shayrat, in the province of Homs. "This military operation", adds the Catholic Bishop, in a conversation with Agenzia Fides "opens new disturbing scenarios for all. I see that even now Erdogan rejoices for this intervention, decided and accomplished without taking any account of voices calling for an independent investigation into what happened in Idlib.
The Pope and the Holy See are not heard. And there are those who want this dirty war to continue".
Fifty-nine Tomahawk missiles in the early hours of April 7 were launched by two USA destroyers located in the Mediterranean Sea, whose target was the Syrian government military base from where, according to the US, the aircraft which led the attack with chemical weapons against Khan Shaikun town in Idlib province left on Tuesday 4. After the military operation ordered by Trump’s administration, Russia has called for an urgent UN Security Council meeting, defining the US missile attack on Syrian military base "reckless".
