AMERICA/URUGUAY - "Road Project" for thousands of street children and adolescents

Montevideo (Agenzia Fides) - In Montevideo, Paysandú, Maldonado, Salto and Durazno "Road Project" takes care of 1,088 children. The project includes a "kids club", as well as 90 youth centers that assist 7,000 adolescents between 13 to 17 years of age, according to data released by the Secretariat of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic. Activities take place in full-time or part-time centers. The project will be developed in 2017 before being submitted to the UN Committee in 2018. Uruguay was chosen as the pioneer Country for designing the project, which will last two years, with the aim to apply it at a national level and the chance to repeat it at an international level.
