Maputo (Agenzia Fides) - The Mozambican government has denounced the presence of one million and 400 thousand working children in the Country because of poverty and minimum salary. During the presentation of a survey on child exploitation, carried out by the Eduardo Mondlane local University, the authorities requested a list of hazardous jobs in order to protect children. According to the study data, 44% of children and adolescents consulted said that the majority of child labor is concentrated in illegal trade, 14% work to help the family. About 12% of those interviewed said they work in bars and restaurants, 11% in family fields, 6% in the fishery sector and 5% in domestic activities. In Mozambique, the minimum working age is 18, however, the Labor Law provides that one can start work at 15 years of age. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 24/03/2017)
