Kabul (Agenzia Fides) - Nearly a third of Afghan children do not attend school and, in a country at war like Afghanistan, this factor increases the risk of becoming victim of child labor, children are recruited by armed groups, who are forced into early marriages or subjected to other forms of exploitation. According to figures gathered by Save the Children, sent to Fides, more than 400,000 Afghan children have left school this year because of the growing instability and forced repatriation of 600,000 Afghan refugees from Pakistan. The NGO noted that about half of the children who return do not attend school and often end up working in the street because their parents cannot find work. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 24/03/2017)
