Rio de Janeiro (Agenzia Fides) - According to a recent research published by the Abrinq Foundation, an NGO which promotes the defense of the rights of children and adolescents, reports that in 2015, 2 million and 600,000 working children in the age group between 5 and 17 were registered in Brazil. The study, entitled "Childhood and Adolescence Scenario 2017", also reveals that 5 million 800 thousand Brazilian children between 0 to 14 years of age live in extreme poverty, with a per capita family income of less than $ 65.
According to Abrinq, there was an increase of 8,500 working children in 2015 between 5 and 9 years of age compared to 2014, although a decrease of 659,000 children and adolescents between 10 and 17 years of age was registered.
