Bamako (Agenzia Fides) - A Colombian nun, Sister Gloria Cecilia Narváez Argoti, was kidnapped by armed men in the south of Mali, in a Catholic church in Sikasso (see Fides 08/02/2017).
Neither Islamists nor jihadists groups have claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. The Catholic Church of Mali has not yet news of the nun kidnapped but initiatives to demand her release have multiplied (see Fides 10/03/2017).
Even if on Wednesday, February 15 the novena of prayer that the Church had started to keep the hope of finding Sister Gloria alive ended, many parishes throughout the territory of Mali, have launched a series of activities on radio and television, to show that the Church has not forgetten Sister Gloria.
Colombia, the country where the religious is from, has decided to act.
Colombian authorities have sent two Colombian investigators to the scene to try to get more accurate information. This week, t two investigators were seen in the parish in which the kidnapping of the nun occurred.
The Malian authorities have not yet made statements on the investigation. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 18/03/2017)
