AFRICA/DR CONGO - The UN evacuates 25 seminarians of the Seminary of Kananga assaulted in February

Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides) - Twenty-five seminarians were evacuated by the Blue Helmets of the UN Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO). The seminarians evacuated in Mbuji-Mayi were part of the group that went missing in the forest as a result of the assault, on February 18, at the Major Seminary of Malole in Kananga, in Central Kasai, by militants of the traditional late chief Kamuina Nsapu (see Fides 20/02/2017).
Following the appeal launched by His Exc. Mgr. Emmanuel Bernard Kasanda Mulenga, Bishop of Mbuji-Mayi, the twenty-five seminarians were able to return to their families, after they were stranded in Kananga because the road that connects in Mbuji-Mayi is blocked due to the presence of Kamuina Nsapu militiamen.
