San Salvador (Agenzia Fides) - The Church of El Salvador announced that it has sent the findings of an extensive research to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints at the Vatican, on a "presumed healing" attributed to the Salvadoran martyr, Oscar Arnulfo Romero, who was beatified by Pope Francis in 2015, which could lead to his canonization.
Among the documents prepared to be sent to the Vatican, there is also a copy of the medical records of Cecilia Maribel Flores, the woman who was "miraculously" healed thanks to the intercession of Archbishop Romero. The document is signed by the Seguro Social Salvadorian Institute.
Oscar Arnulfo Romero, Archbishop of San Salvador, was assassinated on March 24, 1980 while celebrating mass. "Mgr. Romero was assassinated because he loved the poor, following the example of his Master, Jesus of Nazareth - wrote the Bishops of El Salvador -. He dedicated his life to them, giving up the comfortable solution to abandon the sheep and run away like mercenaries" (see Fides 25/5/2015). (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 02/03/2017)
