Hei Long Jiang (Fides Service) - There was great rejoicing among Catholics in Hei Long Jiang province in north east mainland China where 5 new priests were recently ordained. Some 2,000 Catholics took part in the solemn Mass of Ordination in Ha Er Bin cathedral and 45 priests concelebrated. The community gave a warm welcome to the new priests whose ministry will undoubtedly help the local people grow in faith and hope.
According to the 2000 edition of Guide to the Catholic Church in China published by China Catholic Communications, in the province of Hei Long Jiang there are three dioceses Hei Long Jiang, Qi Qi Ha Er, and Jia Mu Si and a total number of 112,000 Catholics assisted by 60 priests and 60 women religious, members of a diocesan congregation, the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
