Wednesday, 22 February 2017

Bamako (Agenzia Fides) - The special Guala anti-kidnapping group of Colombia's National Police was sent to Mali to help local authorities to find Sister Gloria Cecilia Narváez Argoti of the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Immaculate, kidnapped in Karangasso in southern Mali (see Fides 08/02/2017).
As Agenzia Fides learns from Colombian sources, the Guala Group is specialized in the search of kidnapped people and has technical and intelligence skills. Colombian agents work with their Malian counterparts and those of at least one European Country who are already engaged in the search of the religious nun. Sister Cecilia’s kidnappers said they are jihadists, but at the moment there is no confirmation. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 22/02/2017)
