Beijing (Fides Service) - Ever more frequently Chinese priests and nuns travel abroad to meet other members of the universal Church. Recently two Beijing priests and a Sister visited three cities in northern Europe: Helsinki, Finland, Stockholm, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark.
In Helsinki the three Chinese religious were given a warm welcome by Bishop Jozef Wrobel. They visited a Catholic community which is small in numbers but has excellent relations with the civil authorities and other Christians and is very active in the field of ecumenism, assistance to refugees, social and charity work.
On returning from northern Europe one of the priests said: “They showed us how a Catholic community can live in a country where they are a minority, building good relations with everyone and being faithful to mission”. They three travellers returned to China with fond memories of the places they saw and people they met. Besides praying with the local Catholic community they also attended an ecumenical prayer service in a Lutheran church in Helsinki. (Agenzia Fides 17/11/2005 Righe: 21 Parole: 235)
