Tegucigalpa (Agenzia Fides) - In Honduras about 15 thousand boys and girls live on the streets, in shopping malls and on the streets of the main cities of the Country. This is what the NGO Casa Alianza denounces, which assists children in need in Honduras. The main cause of this phenomenon is poverty. In fact, the poverty rate that affects the Central American country is over 60%, with over 8 and a half million poor Hondurans. A note from the Director of the NGO says that often minors are recruited by criminal gangs for drug trafficking or as hired killers. Shelter and assistance to victims of violence, sexual abuse, trafficking, drug addiction, expulsion from the United States and Mexico are among the objectives of Casa Alianza, active in Honduras since 1987.
