San Salvador (Agenzia Fides) - The Archbishop of San Salvador, His Exc. Mgr. José Luis Escobar Alas, in his traditional Sunday press conference yesterday said that the "El Salvador Seguro" plan is not giving the desired results, so it is important to review it to ensure the safety of Salvadoran citizenship. He is also concerned about the existence of gang plans to kill policemen and soldiers, this is why he has urged the authorities to make the necessary investigations.
"The authorities must do their duty, they must review the plans that are underway, in order to see if they are giving the expected results or not. At the moment I think a review is important, because the El Salvador Seguro plan is not giving the results" are the words of Mgr. Escorbar Alas.
Last month alone, another members of the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Armed Forces, were killed: 61 murders in 2016 so far.
The Archbishop wanted to denounce this twentieth murder of a member of the armed forces which took place on Saturday, November 12, in addition to the 41 policemen murdered in 2016. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 14/11/2016)
