El Paso (Agenzia Fides) - After the outcome of the presidential elections in the United States, the Bishop of the Diocese of El Paso (Texas, USA), His Exc. Mgr. Mark Joseph Seitz, sent a message to the border communities to encourage them "not to be afraid" and to reaffirm that "the Church will remain by their side".
"We will do everything in our power to ensure that your voices are heard, that you are protected and that this nation maintains its fundamental ideals", said Bishop Seitz considering the concern that prevails among the Latino population and other minority groups.
The letter sent to Fides informs that, after the victory of the Republican candidate Donald Trump in the elections, the Bishop of El Paso wanted to reassure the faithful, since one of the main issues of the election campaign of the current newly-elected President of the United States, was the issue of immigration and the resulting mass expulsion.
"As Catholics we have a coherent ethic of life. We believe that everyone, regardless of their origin, economic status, or disability, deserve love, respect and care", concluded Mgr. Seitz.. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 11/11/2016)
