AFRICA/CAMEROON - Appointment of Auxiliary Bishop of Bafoussam

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 7 November 2016 the Holy Father appointed Rev. Mgr. Emmanuel Dassi Youfang, of the clergy of Bafoussam, Member of the "Communauté de l'Emmanuel" and Vicar General of the same diocese as Auxiliary Bishop of the diocese of Bafoussam (Cameroon). He was assigned the titular see of Esco.
Rev. Mgr. Emmanuel Dassi Youfang was born on 7 August 1967 in Baham, in the Diocese of Bafoussam. Before entering the Seminary, he studied zoology at the State University of the Country, in Yaounde. Then, he carried out his studies in Philosophy and Theology at the Paul VI Inter-diocesan Major Seminary in Douala. He earned a License in Fundamental Theology in 2012, at the Ecole Cathédrale-Faculté Notre-Dame in Paris. He has been a member of the Emmanuel Community since 1997. He was ordained a priest on June 16, 2001 for the Diocese of Bafoussam.
He has served the following roles: 2001-2009: Parish priest and Rector of the Marian Shrine; 2009-2010: Vicar General; 2010-2012: Studies of Theology in Paris; since 2012: Vicar General and Parish priest. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 08/11/2016)
