He studied at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and during those years of study he felt the vocation to the priesthood, engaging with the "Legion of Mary" and the Catholic Students Society. After the Ignatian experience, in 1994 he started his path in the Society of Jesus. After the novitiate in Singapore, he studied philosophy in the Philippines, then theology at the Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, Massachusetts (USA).
