Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides) - "We condemn the cowardly murder of a servant of God who gave his life for the people. We demand thorough investigations to be carried out", says a statement of the Archdiocese of Lubumbashi for the murder of Father Joseph Mulimbi Nguli, 52, vicar of the parish of San Martino in the municipality of Katuba, Lubumbashi, capital of Upper Katanga Province (see Fides 24/10/2016).
"We ask the government to ensure the security of the population in a global, total and definitive manner. It is unacceptable that one takes care of the welfare of a population when the people are killed in a wild way", said the statement, signed by the diocesan Director of the Commission for Justice and Peace, Don Kalaba.
Don Mulimbi was killed on the night of October 21, on his way to his sister's house. Armed men followed him, and broke into the house, firing three shots of Kalashnikov against the priest. The perpetrators escaped without stealing anything. The provincial authorities have promised that they will do everything to arrest the perpetrators of the crime. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 26/10/2016)
