Wednesday, 9 November 2005

Vatican City (Fides Service) - The Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life recently published the first issue of its new magazine Sequela Christi which replaces the bulletin Informationes SCRIS. The magazine is intended as a tool for study and information with regard to the consecrated life in its various forms. Besides the teaching of the Holy Father, the magazine will present initiatives of the Congregation as well as reflections on problems encountered by consecrated persons and information on the life of consecrated persons in the Church.
The first issue of Sequela Christi is dedicated chiefly to the fruitful pontificate of Pope John Paul II, offering a thematic reading of his abundant Magisterium on consecrated life, starting from the latest messages and speeches address to Religious Institutes. The issue also includes the homily given during one of the nine Novendial requiem Masses for the dead Pope in St Peter’s presided by the secretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, archbishop Silvano Nesti. The Studies and Background Articles section includes a series of papers on John Paul II’s pontificate and his relationship with consecrated life: historical-doctrinal path; interpretation of messages and homilies for the Day for Consecrated Life; ecclesiological principles; the Blessed Virgin Mary model of consecrated life and contemplative life.
