Quito (Agenzia Fides) - On February 17, 2017 Ecuador will vote for the President and Vice-President of the country. At the end of the Annual Plenary Assembly, the Ecuadorian Episcopal Conference (CEE) called on the "ethical strengthening of the democratic system" and asked the political actors, in particular the candidates, to always act with respect and for the search of dialogue.
The statement was signed by 42 Bishops of Ecuador and read by the Secretary of the CEE, father Omar Mateo. The Bishops' Conference also asked the candidates to make their government programs "clearly" known, and to seek the common good, the development of institutions, and the dignity of persons.
The annual Plenary Assembly of the Bishops' Conference of Ecuador ended on Friday, October 21, and in addition to the analysis of the social situation and the country's policy, particular attention was paid on the themes of family and marriage. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 24/10/2016)
