Tijuana (Agenzia Fides) - "I am talking to priests, so that in the shortest possible time, some parishes can be equipped as places to welcome Haitians, and must in fact welcome them in worthy places" said the Archbishop of Tijuana , His Exc. Mgr. Francisco Moreno
Barron. All this requires a great organizational effort, because there are no adequate resources, however, "I think if you open your heart, everything else, even when improvised, will be done very well". It will take some time, but we are working quickly on the project, because the Archdiocese itself must take its responsibilities seriously in the face of these pressing needs, says the note sent to Fides which reports the Archbishop's words.
"Mexico may go down in history for its humanitarian vocation and can give an example of how it treats migrants in a situation like the present, this situation puts us on the world stage in a remarkable way", said Mgr. Moreno Barron that concluded: "At the moment we cannot allow or tolerate racism, we are an inclusive society".
According to data collected by Fides, they are 8,000 Haitians who have arrived in the last four months in Tijuana, a city of the Mexican border with the United States, waiting to get a visa to enter the US. The recent changes of the US immigration policy have blocked attempts by this group. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 10/10/2016)
