Brazzaville (Agenzia Fides) - 23 people were killed in the attacks committed in late September in the Republic of Congo by former members of the Ninjas Nsiloulou rebel group. This was announced by the Minister of Justice of Brazzaville, Pierre Mabiala.
According to the Minister the victims are four military policemen, two policemen and eleven civilians. The assaults were committed in the southern Pool region during the last week of September. In the assault against a train, on September 30, the guerrillas killed 14 people.
4,000 people have been forced to flee their homes since April, when some former Ninjas Nsiloulou took up arms again after the disputed re-election of President Denis Sassou N'Guesso.
Ntoumi, who, after having laid down the arms had joined President Sassou Nguesso, however supported the opponent Guy Brice Parfait Kolelas, who came second in the presidential elections of 20 March, which saw the re-confirmation of Nguesso as President (LM) ( Agenzia Fides 06/10/2016)
