El Geneina (Agenzia Fides) - Studying in Sudan seems to have become inaccessible for a growing number of people. The surge in prices is forcing parents to keep their daughters at home. The costs for uniforms, folders, books, notebooks and pens continue to rise and families do not have the money to face the costs, especially those families with several school age children. In El Geneina, capital of West Darfur, another problem regards school buildings that were destroyed in past months due to heavy rains. "With the sudden increase in food prices, many parents cannot afford to pay for their studies. In addition there are also economic problems for the reconstruction of the schools", reads a note sent to Agenzia Fides. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 23/09/2016)
