AMERICA/PERU - 26th Week of Theological Reflection 15-18 November in Lima on the theme “The presence of John Paul II in Peru”

Lima (Agenzia Fides) - The John Paul II Superior Institute of Theological Studies has organised the 26th Week of Theological Reflection to be held 15-18 November in Lima on the theme “The presence of John Paul II in Peru”. The seminar will reflect on the homilies and addresses given by Pope John Paul II during his two apostolic visits to Peru in 1985 and 1988. The event is part of celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of the Institute.
The opening address will be given by Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani archbishop of Lima on the theme “Nuances of a Bishop”. This will be followed by a talk by Manuel Díez Mateos on the theme “We recognise you Lord in the breaking of the Bread”. On 16 November Jesuit Fr Ricardo Antoncich who teaches at Sant’Antonio Ruiz de Montoya University will give a conference on “Challenges posed by John Paul II to the world of culture, production and work”. Conferences on Thursday 17 will be on the subjects “John Paul II, Bishop and humanist” (Alessandro Caviglia) and “John Paul II speaks to youth” (Rafael Egúsquiza). Lastly on 18 November Bishop Norbert Strotmann Hoppe of Chosica will speak about “Criteria for pastoral activity inspired by the words of John Paul II”.
