Michoacan (Agenzia Fides) - A few days ago the Bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province of Morelia, state of Michoacan, published a message in which they emphasize the worrying situation they face due to widespread violence and a lack of the presence of state authorities (see Fides 7/9/2016).
The text was presented yesterday at a press conference by His Exc. Mgr. Armando António Ortíz Aguirre, Bishop of the Diocese of Ciudad Lazaro Cárdenas (Mexico). At the end of the press conference, Mgr. Ortíz Aguirre stressed that so far the Bishops have not yet met with the governor or any of the authorities dealing with the issue of security in the state. A year ago there was a meeting with the governor, when he was still elected candidate, and even then had expressed their concern for social insecurity. The Governor had assured them that this would be a priority once he took office. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 13/09/2016)
