Caracas (Agenzia Fides) - The Archbishop of Caracas, Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino, said that Venezuelan people should resolve conflicts peacefully. "There is no food, and there are no medicines, this has become a serious problem but we have to solve it peacefully", he said a few days ago.
Meanwhile, the situation has become critical, according to information sent to Fides from Barquisimeto, a city about 340 km from Caracas, where at the El Pampero psychiatric Center, patients are dying because of hunger. 3 people have died of hunger since last month.
Tension has increased in the country, the population in many cities took to the streets against the (National Electoral Council) CNE, which they accuse of hindering and delaying the convening of the referendum.
Protesters and opposition want the vote to take place before January 10, because only in this way if yes wins this would lead to the removal of the entire government and new national elections would be held. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 10/09/2016)
