Vasai (Agenzia Fides) - "Mother Teresa is the bridge between India and the people of Europe": says to Fides the Archbishop of Vasai, Felix Machado, who inaugurated a Church dedicated to Saint Teresa of Calcutta in his diocese. The Archbishop, praising the sanctity and the choice to give herself totally to the poor, noted with appreciation the gesture of the Indian government, which sent a high-level delegation to the Vatican for the canonization of Mother Teresa. "For the first time in India's history, a Bishop was invited to be part of the official delegation in Rome: we are talking about Mgr. Theodore Mascarenhas", he notes. "This is the way to build our country: join efforts and work together with people of all religions", remarked Mgr. Machado.
"In a saint people see a reflection of God", he continues. "Mother Teresa - the Bishop concludes - is the incarnation of God. Mother Teresa wanted to give priority to Jesus. She gave up everything to follow Christ, and went in the slums to serve Him in the poorest of the poor. Mother Teresa is a saint in this Jubilee Year of Mercy, because Mother Teresa is an icon of God's Mercy. Mother Teresa has become God's compassion for the poor, the forgotten and the downtrodden" (PA-TJ) (Agenzia Fides 08/09/2016)
