AMERICA/ARGENTINA - "Let us take care of the earth, let us take care of life"

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - "Let us take care of the earth, let us take care of life" is the theme of the annual campaign sponsored by Catholic Action Argentina (ACA), which starts today, September 1, 2016, second World Day of Prayer for the care of creation, and will end on October 30, 2017.
According to information sent to Fides, the initiative is inspired by Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Sì, and wants to "stress the importance of creation and of the problems that, due to the action or inaction of the people, are generated in the environment and affect the whole human family, especially the poor".
It is important to respond to the urgent challenge of protecting our common home, bring together those who are looking for a sustainable and global development, promote a dialogue on how we are building the future of the planet, raise awareness among individuals and communities to change their lifestyle, propose possible initiatives at a personal and community level which are among the objectives set by the organizers.
After the celebration of the Day, sponsored by ACA as well as by various ecclesial realities and civil society, other programmed moments during the year are the Spring Festival, the Day of the students and the youth pilgrimage in Lujan. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 01/09/2016)
