Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - From 4 to 11 September the 29th edition of the "Week for Peace" will be held in Colombia and the main objective will be to reflect on the urgent need to "reconcile, meet and rebuild relationships that allow us to advance towards a country in which we can live together in peace and serenity". This is what Mgr. Héctor Fabio Henao Gaviria, director of the National Social-Caritas Colombia Pastoral Secretariat, promoter of the event said in the note sent to Fides.
The Colombian Church invites us to reflect on the document "Artisans of forgiveness, reconciliation and peace", published in September 2015, at the end of the VII National Reconciliation Congress that brought together the leaders of 650 communities of the Colombian territory, in particular those involved in the armed conflict. In the text, which takes the local icon of the Good Samaritan as an example, what is highlighted is the need to heal the hearts and show that through God all things are possible, how to reach forgiveness and reconciliation.
The initiatives which will be organized in schools, parishes, neighborhoods and in organized groups this week must emphasize the need for forgiveness, crucial to heal wounds, hatred and divisions, and the example of Jesus and the good Samaritan, to reach out to those who suffer in order to build peace.
The Week for Peace for Mgr. Héctor Fabio Henao Gaviria invites Colombians to participate in the Eucharistic celebrations and collective activities, bearing in mind the need to achieve lasting peace, which is built with concrete actions in the family, at school, in the neighborhood ...
