El Paso (Agenzia Fides) – The bi-national march (USA-Mexico) to unite families separated by the border is scheduled for today, 10 August.
Dozens of families will leave from Chihuahuita Park at 9:30 and will gather in Rio Grande and therefore denounce the damaging USA policies of deportation and family separation, at the same time they will ask for a humane and dignified treatment for immigrant families and in border communities.
This is what the statement sent to Fides by the Border Network for Human Rights of Texas says: "We cannot allow irresponsible and hateful politicians to lead immigration policy, tearing apart our families to serve their selfish political causes. With this event, we want to embrace a vision of an America that celebrates the fundamental values of the family and the community, and seek solutions proposed by border residents, rather than a fearful rhetoric".
The Border Network for Human Rights, together with other organizations have always expressed: "We need a global immigration reform that provides a path to citizenship for 11 million undocumented families who already live and work in the United States" (see Fides 08/02/2016 and 18/04/2016).
