Shi Jia Zhuang (Agenzia Fides) - "One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God" (Mt 4,4): with this motto, on July 17, the "Marathon of God's Word" began.
The initiative, which will last one year, comes from the parish of Bei Tang, dedicated to St. Joseph, in the Diocese of Gui Yang, Gui Zhou province.
According to information sent to Agenzia Fides, those present at the Mass were holding a copy of the Bible.
The catechists distributed some leaflets with prayers and the detailed program of the daily Bible reading. The pastor encouraged all with these words: "Thanks to God's Word, our Lord is present in every family. And you must all join, with the strength that you have had from the Word, to witness the faith through acts of mercy, as the Pope recommended".
The parish of Bei Tang has a glorious history and is also famous for its architecture. With its 200 years of life it bears witness to the path of the history of the Church throughout the province of Gui Zhou, the poorest and remote area of mainland China. Today it is a very active parish, with about 10,000 faithful and the many pastoral and missionary activities for all ages and different social needs. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 19/07/2016)
