Tucuman (Agenzia Fides) - The area of Social Pastoral and Lay people, one of the thirteen that has divided the work of the XI National Eucharistic Congress which takes place in the city of San Miguel de Tucuman (Argentina), yesterday offered a conference to reflect about the scourge of drugs and drug trafficking, the mission of the laity and the teaching of Pope Francis.
The argument was led by the president of the Episcopal Commission for Social Pastoral (Cepas), Mgr. Jorge Lozano, and by Chairman of the National Justice and Peace Commission (CNJyP), Mgr. Emilio Inzaurraga.
Mgr. Lozano developed three points during his speech: the socio-cultural issue of drugs, drug trafficking networks and the answer which the Church gives to this problem.
The Congress, which takes place from Thursday 16 until Sunday, June 19 has become a meeting point for formation, reflection and Christian commitment of the Catholic community in the country: At the opening ceremony there were about 75,000 faithful, and the inaugural Eucharistic celebration was attended by four Cardinals, more than 50 Bishops and about 200 priests.
