Hong Kong (Fides Service) - Addressing parishioners at Rosary Church in the central Kowloon district of Hong Kong on the occasion of the parish’s 100th anniversary, Bishop John Tong, auxiliary of Hong Kong, said “Our Lady is our mother. We are all brothers and sisters in the Church. Communion and solidarity are the principle conditions to maintain harmony in this family.
According to Hong Kong diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao ten priests concelebrated at the Mass presided by Bishop Tong with the participation of over 700 people, some in the church and some in parish rooms, because the church was full.
Catholics came from all over the diocese bringing precious gifts to thank the Lord for 100 years of evangelisation and pastoral life in the parish. The anniversary was celebrated all over the diocese because Rosary Church is the oldest parish in Kowloon district and stands as a witness to a century of diocesan history .
Hong Kong’s central Rosary Church was built in 1905. About 2,300 worshippers come for Sunday masses. The parish has active pastoral centre which organises various spiritual and liturgical events as well as social and cultural initiatives. Every Friday there is all day exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
