Friday, 10 June 2016 jubilee of mercy   local churches

Phnom Penh (Agenzia Fides) - The Jubilee of the sick (June 11 and 12) in Cambodia is characterized by a massive flow of works of mercy, with visits to the sick, support to families, witnesses, meetings and liturgical celebrations: says Bishop Olivier Schmitthaeusler, Apostolic Vicar in Phnom Penh to Agenzia Fides.
At the "Thmey" Pastoral Center, in the capital, during the holy mass which will be celebrated for the disabled there will also be baptisms, while in the northern parishes of the Vicariate visits to the sick and the mentally disabled will be held, with the administration of the anointing of the sick and the distribution of gifts. In the parishes of the southern part of the Vicariate, where there are several centers for the sick and disabled people managed by Catholics and other NGOs, Catholic families have also promoted a special collection of rice that will be given as a sign of solidarity to poor and needy families.
During the Mass that the Bishop will celebrate in Keo Phok, finally, there will be the testimonies of some HIV-positive and AIDS patients, disabled children and their parents. "What inspires us - concludes Schmitthaeusler - are the words of Jesus, which the Pope chose: Be merciful, just like the Father". (PA) (Agenza Fides 10/06/2016)
