Aleppo (Agenzia Fides) - A playground in the heart of Aleppo has been realized by the Marist Brothers within their structure in the central part of the Syrian martyred city, with swings, slides and open spaces made available to children who in recent weeks have witnessed yet another escalation of the launching of bombs and mortar attacks also against neighborhoods where they live with their families: is a small but eloquent initiative by the Marists in Aleppo, with the financial support of the Association "Let us help Syria".
The structure was inaugurated on Sunday, June 5, coinciding with the feast of Saint Marcellin Champagnat, founder of the Congregation of the Marist Brothers, on a day also marked by the dropping of bombs on various parts of the city. Despite this, the opening of the structure was held with the participation of a large number of families.
The Maidan district, inhabited mainly by Armenian families is among the areas most affected by the recent artillery launch, where the latest escalation caused more than 20 deaths. In collaboration with Armenian Catholic priest Elias Janji - reports a statement of "Let us help Syria" sent to Fides - also "Aleppo, health project" is lending a hand, with the aim of financing at least 100 health insurance policies in favor of the inhabitants of the Syrian metropolis that fail to meet medical expenses; insurances will guarantee medical visits, tests, hospitalizations and any purchase of medicines for one year.
