OCEANIA/SOLOMON ISLANDS - Appointment of the Rector of the "Holy Name of Mary" Seminary in Honiara

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On March 3, 2016 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Paulus Suparmono, of the Congregation of Mission (CM) as Rector of the inter-diocesan "Holy Name of Mary" Seminary in the Archdiocese of Honiara, Solomon Islands.
The new Rector was born in Kulon Progo (Indonesia) on 27 July 1962. After attending Catholic schools in Java, in 1979 he entered the minor Seminary in Garum, and in 1985 the Higher Institute of Philosophy and Theology in Malang . From 1994 to 1996 he obtained a Master at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. From 1992 to 2006 he worked as a teacher and formator in three seminars in Indonesia. In 2007 he was elected Provincial Superior CM; in the years 2011-2012 he was chaplain in St. Thomas Aquinas parish in Philadelphia (United States); from 2012 to 2015 he was pastor in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia.
