Ciudad Juarez (Agenzia Fides) - "What we want to know is why? What is happening to young people? What are the problems that lead to suicide?" asks His Exc. Mgr. José Guadalupe Torres Campos, Bishop of Ciudad Juarez. The news of five suicides in 24 hours has shocked the whole border town, this is why the Bishop has stressed: "We must do something urgently, we must try to find a preventive medicine. On behalf of the Catholic Church we can offer a spiritual path, human values, but also the authorities must do something for the people, for young people in order to make them understand the value of life".
Mgr. Torres Campos, in the note sent to Fides, explained: "The Catholic Church offers spaces for all those people who have emotional problems, psychological problems, we are here to help, we want to offer a way out".
According to reports from the local press, the Attorney General informed that apparently recent suicides have occurred for no serious reasons. What is striking is the current inability of the young people of this region to solve any kind of problem. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 17/05/2016)
