ASIA/UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - Catholicos Aram I inaugurates the school and the Armenian Cultural Center in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi (Agenzia Fides) - Hundreds of Armenian immigrants working in the United Arab Emirates took part, on Saturday, May 7, in the official inauguartion of the new Armenian cultural center, in the area of Musaffah, in Abu Dhabi, and annexed to the first Armenian apostolic church inaugurated in the capital of the Emirates in December 2014. The inauguration of the Center, which represents from now on an important reference point for the cultural and social life of Christian Armenians present in the country, was also attended by Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of culture, together with the Armenian Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I. Addressing those present, Minister Nahyan underlined that the place of worship, and now the cultural center annexed to it, represents a confirmation that "tolerance and respect for other faiths are the fundamental pillars of our Country, can live together in peace and security". On the occasion of the inauguration, local sources relaunched the statements of Father Mesrob Sarkissian, head of the local Armenian Apostolic communities, according to whom there are at least 10 thousand Armenians in the UAE.
