Tibù (Agenzia Fides) - Farming families flee due to the increase in homicides, for the presence of armed groups that threaten and extort the population, denounced the Colombian Bishop of the Diocese of Tibù, His Exc. Mgr. Omar Alberto Sanchez, to some local journalists.
The letter sent to Fides reports that, according to the Bishop, this phenomenon has worsened since the reconciliation of FARC and ELN with the national government for peace talks. "There is anxiety, fear, in these territories, and this gives the feeling that the peace talks have come at a bad time", said Mgr. Sanchez.
The Bishop stressed that it is not a secret that there is a large number of "enemies of peace" and many people are interested in stopping the agreements for the interests that are at stake, including illicit crops and drug trafficking ( see Fides 03/05/2016). (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 06/05/2016)
