Solothurn (Agenzia Fides) - The "movements" of our time involve everyone. Some people are forced to move, even to flee, leaving forever their history and their context, and there are those who, under the illusion that moving is synonym of freedom, pursue a life with no roots and stable social identity. Especially young people experience uncertain identity, with the risk of getting lost in the crisis of all values and ideology.
As Bianca Maisano, of the Scalabrinian Secular Missionaries says to Agenzia Fides, more than four hundred people from more than forty different languages and cultures, met in the Swiss town of Solothurn for the "Spring Festival" at the International Scalabrini Centre, from April 29 to May 1, which had the theme "What signs of new life do we have in the movements of our time? 'Behold, I make all things new' (Rev 21,5)". The formation meeting, a traditional event, brought together young people, families and friends of different nationalities, including many refugees.
A forum with Mauro Magatti and Chiara Giaccardi, professors of the Catholic University of Milan, dialogue, in eight different languages developed in groups, moments of celebration and of music and the Eucharistic concelebration in the Jesuit church, presided over by the Vicar General of the diocese of Basel Solothurn, Markus Thürig, with the Scalabrini missionaries G.Bortolamai, O. Gil, and with Don S. Viola, allowed everyone to live an experience of mutual giving and witness.
According to the prophetic intuition of Giovanni Battista Scalabrini, Providence, that is to say, the breath of the Spirit, moves from inside history and the heart, turning them into fruitful ground for a new path to be carried out together. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 04/05/2016)
