AMERICA/BRAZIL - World Mission Sunday marks the start of 5th Diocesan Eucharistic Congress in Garanhuns on the theme “Eucharist: Life and Mission”

Garanhuns (Fides Service) - On 23 October World Mission Sunday, Garanhuns diocese in Brazil Pernambuco state, started its 5th diocesan eucharistic congress in the theme Eucharist: Life and Mission, with a Eucharistic march, Mass and Adoration in every parish. The aim of the Congress is to reflect on the many aspects of the Eucharistic Mystery and encourage popular devotion and worship of the Blessed Sacrament.
The intense programme includes conferences, discussion groups, common prayers and adoration, and to give resonance to reflections proposed by the conference. On 24 October the theme of the conference was “The Eucharist generates the Community” and in every parish workshops were held on Community Councils and Community Leaders. On 25 October reflection focused on “Mary, Woman of the Eucharist” with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Liturgy of the Hours on this theme. Wednesday 26 October the programme included a penitential Day with a conference on “The Eucharist on the Lord’s Day - Adoration” with celebrations of Reconciliation and Holy Hour in parishes. Thursday 27 conference on “Eucharist: Light and Life of the World” and a day of Adoration. Theme on 28 October “Eucharist, strength and hope for all who suffer”; 29 October Eucharist: source and summit of Christian life”. Last of all Sunday 30, conference on “Eucharist: Life and Mission”.
