ASIA/PAKISTAN - Care and solidarity to the victims of terrorism

Lahore (Agenzia Fides) – Need to express concrete solidarity and to take care of the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Lahore, which took place on Easter Day: is the initiative launched by the "Cecil Chaudhry & Iris Foundation", founded on Catholic principles, which regularly visits people injured in the suicide attack at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park who are still in the hospitals in Lahore. The Foundation is close to the victims' families, people of different religious beliefs, distributing aid and providing toys and books for children.
"The attack resulted in deaths and serious injuries. How can one provide relief and comfort to the parents who have lost their children, children who have lost both parents, the people who, in a hospital bed, still do not know the truth about their dead relatives? These are heartbreaking stories", says to Fides Michelle Chaudhry, President of the Foundation.
Inayat Ali is one of the wounded: his wife and two sons sit beside him crying, but the other three children died in the attack. "Their family is destroyed forever, their lives are devastated", noted the President. For this reason, the Foundation seeks to help families also at a psychological, human and spiritual level".
"We cannot eliminate the pain for the loss of loved ones, but we can help ease the pain, helping the people in time of need and showing that we take care of them", he adds. The Foundation is looking for ways to start a "rehabilitation" long-term program for the families of the victims.
