Coahuila (Agenzia Fides) - "Money must never be washed, because the more you wash it, the more you dirty your conscience", said His Exc. Mgr. José Raúl Vera López, OP. Bishop of Saltillo (Coahuila, Mexico), during the presentation of the Campaign of the collection for the "Priests Fund 2016", a fund for the elderly priests of the diocese.
Mgr. Vera added: "A priest knows what the faithful can give and knows how to find out what may be abnormal alms, therefore, has an obligation to say 'we cannot use this money', because we cannot justify the origin. And if we go into a bank, even the employees will say: we cannot accept this".
The Bishop stressed that the Church cannot accept "dirty money" obtained through organized crime, and if this does not happen in Coahuila, it has happened in other places of Mexico. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 14/04/2016)
