Nairobi (Agenzia Fides) - The Nairobi Classics association has organized a series of concerts regarding the best musicians around the world in Nairobi whose fundraising will be destined to Ghetto Classics, a group that comes from a poor village in Korogocho who teaches classical music to children with the aim of removing them from the road. Ghetto Classics was launched in 2009 and now 300 children study a musical instrument. "They are kept away from problems, they do something that interests them, they play well and they always want more", reads a statement from the director of the association. "The community itself admits that Ghetto Classics has had a huge impact on children".
These young people have not only been able to perform with world-renowned musicians, but are also able to attend some of their concerts. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 08/04/2016)
