Dhaka (Agenzia Fides) – The sick of Dinajpur hope Fr. Piero Parolari, the Italian missionary of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions, wounded in an ambush with attempted murder, will soon return to Bangladesh. After the attack, suffered on 18 November 2015, Fr. Parolari is in Monza, Italy. "Maybe he was born Italian, but his heart belonged to Bangladesh. We want him to come back soon among us", said a woman, as reported by the newspaper the Daily Star. The patients of the hospital where the missionary, who is also a doctor, carried out his voluntary service, miss him very much.
Meanwhile, despite security measures, the rites of Holy Week and Easter celebrations were attended by many people, "especially on Good Friday with the adoration of the Cross", says another missionary, Fr. Adolfo L'Imperio. Easter was celebrated without any incidents. The priests are still escorted by police during their visits to the villages. "It bothers some of us, but the authorities have the order to prevent and protect" he refers, while in the country arrests of militants linked to terrorist groups continue.
