AFRICA/DR CONGO - Appointment of the Bishop of Isangi

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 2 April 2016 the Holy Father appointed Rev. Dieudonné Madrapile Tanzi, of the clergy of Isiro-Niangara, professor at the Pontifical Urbaniana University as Bishop of the Diocese of Isangi (DRC).
The newly-elected Bishop was born on August 18, 1958 in Faradje, dioc. Isiro-Niangara. He attended primary and secondary school in Niangara at the Institut Kiwanuka and the Minor Seminary of Rungu. He studied philosophy at the Major Seminary in Kisangani and Theology in Falaki and in Bunia. He was ordained a priest on August 25, 1985. Since his ordination he has served the following academic and pastoral roles: 1985-1986: Formator at the Minor Seminary of Rungu; 1986-1996: professor and spiritual animator in the Inter-diocesan Major Seminary of Philosophy Saint Augustin of Kisangani; 1996-2001: Vicar General of the Diocese of Isiro-Niangara; 2001-2003: Diocesan Administrator of Isiro-Niangara; 2003-2006: Rector of the National Marian Shrine Blessed Anuarite; 2006-2013: Higher Studies at the Pontifical Urbaniana University for a doctorate in Missiology, and, at the same time, Chaplain of the Daughters of St. Mary of Providence (Opera Don Guanella); since 2012: Professor of Pastoral Theology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome.
