ASIA/SYRIA - A "March for Peace" in the streets of Aleppo, to remember the two Bishops kidnapped

Aleppo (Agenzia Fides) - A "march for peace in Syria", led by the Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mar Ignatius Aphrem II, was held in Aleppo, also with the aim to keep the attention on the matter of the two Bishops of the battered metropolis - Syrian Orthodox Archbishop Mar Gregorios Yohanna Ibrahim and Greek Orthodox Boulos Yazigi - abducted on April 22, 2013 in the context of the Syrian conflict.
The "march for peace" - sources of the Syrian Orthodox Patriarchate report – on Sunday, March 27 saw the participation of priests and religious Syrian Orthodox of the Archdiocese, accompanied by more than four hundred boys and girls who attended the meeting of the Syrian Orthodox youth underway in Aleppo. The procession went from the place of the gathering of young people up to the Syrian Orthodox church dedicated to Mar Gewargis (St. George).
The Primate of the Syrian Orthodox Church led the prayer.
A community moment of celebration of the martyrs was also held in front of the monument – which was recently inaugurated - dedicated to the martyrs of Sayfo, expression which indicates the massacres suffered a century ago in the Ottoman Empire by the Chaldean Christian, sire and Assyrian communities due to the instigation of Young Turks.
