Goa (Agenzia Fides) - Expressing grief and mourning for the massacre of the four Missionaries of Charity in Yemen, the Archbishop of Goa and Daman, His Exc. Mgr. Filipe Neri Ferrao, also invoked for the release of the Salesian priest Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil, kidnapped in Yemen. Presiding over a prayer vigil, the Archbishop said that "the Salesians of Don Bosco celebrated 25 years of their presence and service in Yemen in 2012", praying "for peace to return to reign in the Middle East and North Africa torn by war, where millions of refugees are fleeing, risking their lives to achieve freedom on the shores of Europe".
"Let us pray fervently that common sense prevails and peace is restored in that region", said the Archbishop. "In the holiest of weeks, as we contemplate the Passion and death of Jesus Christ - he said - in the Middle East and other parts of the world so many innocent people are still convicted. Justice is trampled, and men and women are killed for their faith. We entrust their lives to Jesus Christ". (PA) (Agenzia Fides 23/03/2016)
