AMERICA/PERU - Health emergency: dengue in 14 regions

Lima (Agenzia Fides) - The Peruvian Ministry of Health (Minsa) has declared a health emergency for 90 days: cases of dengue have been reported in 14 regions.
The alert is intended to strengthen the prevention and treatment of those infected. Operators are proceeding with the fumigation and the location of larvicides in water deposits in houses. Most cases of infection have been recorded in the northern region of Piura, where 4 people have died and there are about 1131 cases, of whom 415 confirmed. La Libertad, with 290 confirmed cases out of 885 reported, and Lambayeque with 400 people infected and one death. In the department of Tumbes 485 cases have been reported but only 17 confirmed.
